What is QMR? QMR's role in business
QMR, or Quality Management Representative refers to individuals holding the position of Quality Management Representative or Quality Director
Through this article, Vietnam Cleanroom will provide more details about what is QMR and what roles it plays in a business.
What is QMR?
QMR, or Quality Management Representative, is a concept that emerged concurrently with the international quality standard ISO 9001. It refers to individuals holding the position of Quality Management Representative or Quality Director (depending on the terminology used by each organization).
The ISO 9001 standard imposes stringent requirements regarding quality control, process operation, and product quality assurance. Consequently, the demand for the QMR position and their roles is becoming increasingly crucial in businesses.
QMR Roles
Establishing, maintaining, and operating QMS
In addition to tasks related to planning, implementing, and ensuring the stable maintenance of Quality Management System (QMS) processes, the QMR also needs to be familiar with internal audit planning. The QMR, together with process owners, will discuss and review directly to ensure that processes are maintained in the most stable manner.
Promoting the Customer's Role
- Meeting customer requirements is one of the top priorities for any business. This is also the objective of the international standard ISO 9001.
- At this point, the task of a QMR is to have a plan to enhance the awareness of the business personnel regarding customer needs.
Connecting with External Parties
The QMR will serve as a bridge between the business and customers. They will receive customer opinions, contributions, and complaints.
Setting the direction for breakthrough exchanges and building a quality culture
- Quality standards will vary depending on the timing and customer needs.
- Product quality and consumer demand are two of the criteria that QMR needs to examine and consider in making decisions about product pricing.
Coordinating human resources to enhance quality objectives
- Personnel includes those directly involved in researching and understanding customer needs. They then propose ideas for innovation, improvements, and enhancing product quality in line with current consumer trends and preferences.
- QMR needs to understand the strengths of personnel so that they can leverage their strengths in assigned tasks.
QMR and QA, QC
QMR compared to QA and QC is a distinct and separate role.
Specifically:
- QA ensures the quality of steps in the process.
- QC is responsible for inspecting the quality of the finished product.
- QMR plans, implements, and controls the maintenance of the standard system.
What to study to become a QMR?
Similar to other job positions, becoming a QMR requires individuals to have a solid foundation of knowledge and relevant qualifications for the role.
QMR professionals may have backgrounds in economics, management, natural sciences, or other related fields, along with proficiency in the specialized language of quality management.
In addition, QMRs need to develop skills in communication, data analysis, and management.
